Summer Fun At Politicon!

This past weekend, ten thousand people not under arrest, court order, or other duress came to Pasadena, CA, for Politicon. The convention has branded itself the “Coachella of politics,” which I must concede is true, because both Coachella and Politicon gave me migraines that defeated prescription medication.

Why did these people go to Politicon and not, for example, spend the weekend in the neighboring, actually-good city of Los Angeles? Because they love politics. They goddamn love that topic we all know to be fun, politics. Don’t talk to them until they’ve had their politics!

They showed their love in many ways. There were t-shirts:

Audience members even got into their own debates about the issues of the day:

But the most significant debates happened on stage. Conservative celebs like proud virgin Ben Shapiro, debating Cenk Uygur of the Young Turks, attracted huge lines.

Ann Coulter versus Ana Kasparian of the Young Turks proved popular, too, which did not in any way make me want to die!

Tomi Lahren packed the halls for two debates, one against Chelsea Handler and another against Symone Sanders. These debates were great, because I love the discourse!

The moderators asked the important questions.

Like any good event, there were great freebies.

POLITICS IS THE NEW SPORTS, in that everyone is makes a lot of money and you are always having to guess which ones are acting like that because of brain trauma.

But the really good stuff had to be paid for, like the ImPEACHmint Trump tea, the Hillary ClinTEAn (vanilla) and an MLK-themed Black EqualiTEA.

If tea isn’t your cup… of tea!!! You could instead visit the Morning Joe stand, for a free cup…. of joe!!!

You could even get autographs from some of your favs, whether they’d written a book or not.

According to the signs, the event was endorsed by Harriet Tubman and Abraham Lincoln, a huge get for the organizers.

Alas, after two days, the fun had to end.
