See how cities and states are handling migrant kids

Cities and states around the country are divided on how to deal with the tens of thousands of Central American children who have crossed the U.S.’s southern border.

The federal government is asking local governments to help provide shelter space to temporarily house the kids as they await a hearing in immigration court. Nearly 63,000 unaccompanied children have been caught at the border between last October and July 31. Below is a map of cities and states that have offered to help, or have closed their doors to migrant kids.
