Stephanie Sigman will be the first Mexican actress to play a Bond girl

The concept of the “Bond girl as eye candy” is outdated, but the movies got an update around the same time James Bond stepped out of the more cartoonish aspects of his role. In her role as Vesper Lynd, Eva Green was crucial to the espionage-filled plot of Casino Royale, as was Olga Kurylenko in Quantum of Solace. Since these films have a huge international audience, it’s important that the cast is diverse — and that women from around the world are included.

Monica Belluci and Léa Seydoux are also going to appear in Spectre; with so many great actresses on board I’m hoping for a Bond movie where the women band together to kick more ass than Bond himself.

Spectre, directed by Sam Mendes, is set for a November 6 release this year.
