What if Sir Laurence Olivier's steamy love letters had been sexts?

Eighty years ago, mega-movie stars Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh struck up a passionate love affair—while still married to other people—leading to one of the era’s most talked-about Hollywood romances. During the couple’s relationship, which eventually led to a marriage and divorce, Olivier wrote Leigh more than 200 love letters, which have safely been kept in the archives of London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.

Now, for the first time, the letters have been made available to the public. While reading the amorous notes, we wondered what Olivier’s beautiful words—so full of longing, passion, and utter devotion—would look like in today’s most unromantic form of communication: the text message.
