4 Photos of the Apocalyptic Blood Moon That Might Kill Us

Get all the debauchery out of your system and grab some rosary beads because this weekend may be your last — or it could just be another lunar eclipse that will turn the moon blood-red just before midnight on April 14-15.

This will be the first of four lunar eclipses slated to happen in 2014 and 2015 known as the “tetrad” (meaning “death to us all” in Hebrew — just kidding). The next one happens this October, and then two more occur in 2015, in April and September.

But these events are signal the end of times for a small group of Christians. RT.com says one of those is pastor John Hagee, who wrote about this in his book “Four Blood Moons: Something Is About to Change”. He cites Joel 2:31 from the Bible: “The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.” So dramatic!

Proponents of this prophecy also note that the eclipses coincide with major Jewish holidays — Passover and Tabernacle, but writers for EarthSky.org note that is because the Jewish calendar is a lunar calendar.

Whether we’re all Hades-bound or not is uncertain, but the last time a lunar tetrad occurred was in 1967-1968. And there is said to be a total of eight between 2001 and 2100. Of course the Millennial generation gets the sh-t end of the stick (as if college loans weren’t enough!).

Try to glimpse of what seems like it will be a magical sight Monday night/Tuesday morning as the planet Mars will also appear as a fire-red dot next to the moon, according to EarthSky.org. Or if you’re too lazy or too drunk, the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles will be live streaming the event.

Let’s just hope Rihanna doesn’t get swallowed into a gaping hole like she did in ‘This Is the End’. (See below)
