Actress Gabourey Sidibe Tweets Lesson at Disrespectful Fan

The fan, apparently a teenage boy in Brazil, tweeted “I really love you my black b***h.” Her reply, a very graceful one: “it’s NEVER ok for you to call me or ANYONE a ‘black bitch’. Cool?”

It’s possible this fan is just an Internet troll. He seems to feed off of communicating with mostly celebrities from the U.S., which is why he bragged about and posted a screenshot of a Nicki Minaj tweet addressing one of his. On his social media accounts, he constantly posts images of her and other hip hop stars.

But it’s also possible that this fan picked-up that term from absorbing U.S. media. And without any contextual understanding of American culture, he believed it was acceptable to use.

Luckily, Sidibe was there to teach him a universal lesson.
