Cameron Diaz on the Purpose of Pubic Hair

Cameron Diaz is 41 and feeling fabulous.

“I’m happier than I’ve ever been,” she told Fusion’s Alicia Menendez during an interview about her new book, “The Body Book.”

But getting to that point has been a journey. It wasn’t until the actress filmed “Charlie’s Angels” that she realized “how powerful and capable” her body was.

“That was the first time I ever really challenged my body,” she said. “As soon as that happened, it changed everything.”

She’d always been skinny, which people assumed meant she was healthy. In reality, “I was actually poisoning my body. I wasn’t at my optimum,” Diaz said.

Diaz spent years learning about how bodies work and about nutrition, and she wasn’t afraid to address some taboo topics like human waste and pubic hair in her book.

“Pubic hair serves a purpose,” she told Menendez, calling the popularity of laser hair removal and hairless vaginas “a weird phenomenon.”

It makes her crazy, she said, when young people, especially in Hollywood, do things to their faces and bodies to try to stop the aging process.

“There is no such thing as anti-aging,” she said.

That Diaz is comfortable in her own skin is clear and it’s something she’d like other people to experience. It’s all about feeling your best, “not looking 25.”

“I don’t really feel that I have to worry about what people are really thinking about my age or whether or not they think I’m aging gracefully,” she said. “I know how I feel and I’m with me all of the time, so that’s all that matters.”
