The Magic School Bus Is Coming Back, And It Better Be a Hybrid

If you don’t remember “The Magic School Bus,” why are you even reading this?

The 1990s kids TV show (in which an eccentric teacher, Ms. Frizzle, exposes her students to the wonders of science with the help of a bus that defies the laws of physics) has turned out to be one of Netflix’s best-performing educational programs, and now Netflix and Scholastic Media are bringing the show back for 26 half-hour episodes.

“The Magic School Bus 360°” is a departure from the traditional animation of the original series, as the show will now feature computer-generated 3D animation.

The creative team will also update technology in the storyline. As executive producer Deborah Forte discloses, the characters “will explore the latest technology innovations such as robotics, wearable computing devices and cameras.”

No word yet on whether Rock and Roll legend Little Richard will reprise his performance of the show’s rousing theme song.

The series will debut on Netflix in 2016. Hopefully Ms. Frizzle can catch up with the times by then.
